Bomb My Country First, Mr. President!
In a very strange twist, the Colombian president is asking the US to come in and bomb his country instead of Iraq. His own little insurgency problem is more deserving of Washington's military might than Iraq, he thinks. According to the World Socialist Web Site, President Alvaro Uribe Velez recently told the press: "I believe that the drug-trafficking and terrorism conflict in Colombia is more serious for the democratic stability of the continent in the medium and long term than the Iraq conflict itself. If they are mounting this deployment in the face of Iraq, why don’t they consider a similar one to put an end once and for all to the transport of cocaine between Colombia and California, for example."
